Step 1: Visit the NBR e-Filing Portal

Go to the official NBR e-filing website:

Step 2: Register on the Portal (If Not Already Registered)

If you do not have an account on the NBR portal, you will need to create one.

  1. Click on the “Registration” option on the homepage.
  2. Fill out the registration form with your personal details:
    • Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) – If you don’t have a TIN, you must obtain one.
    • Name, Mobile Number, Email Address, and Other Information.
  3. After successful registration, you will get your Login Credentials (TIN and Password).

Step 3: Log in to Your Account

  1. Go to the Login page on the NBR portal.
  2. Enter your TIN (Taxpayer Identification Number) and the Password you created during registration.
  3. Click on Login.

Step 4: Select the e-Return Option

  1. After logging in, you’ll be redirected to the dashboard.
  2. Look for the “e-Return” section, usually found in the menu under “Return” or “e-Filing”.
  3. Click on e-Return.

Step 5: Fill in the Necessary Details

  1. Select the Assessment Year and Income Year for which you’re submitting the return. This will usually be the year for which you are filing your income.
  2. Select the Return Type:
    • Depending on your income source, you’ll be asked to choose a specific return form. For example:
      • Salaried Individuals – Select the salaried return form.
      • Business Income – If you’re a business owner, choose the relevant form for business income.
  3. Fill out the return form with all your details, such as:
    • Personal Information: Name, address, and other necessary details.
    • Income Details: Information on your income sources (salary, business, investment income, etc.).
    • Deductions and Exemptions: Any allowable deductions under the tax laws.
    • Tax Paid: Details of taxes already paid, if any.
  4. Carefully review the information you’ve entered for accuracy.

Step 6: Submit the e-Return

  1. Once you’ve filled out all the details, check the box to confirm that the information provided is accurate.
  2. Click on Submit to send your return to NBR electronically.

Step 7: Acknowledgment and Reference Number

  1. After submission, you will receive an acknowledgment receipt along with a unique reference number.
  2. Save this receipt for your records as it is proof that you’ve submitted your return.

Step 8: Pay Any Outstanding Tax (If Applicable)

  1. If your return shows that you owe any taxes, you’ll need to pay them.
  2. You can pay the tax online through the NBR portal using options like:
    • Bank Transfer
    • Credit Card
    • Mobile Banking (like bKash, Rocket, etc.)
  3. After successful payment, you will receive a payment receipt.

Step 9: Download and Save the e-Return

  1. Once the return is submitted, you can download and save a copy of your e-return and the acknowledgment receipt for your personal records.

Step 10: Wait for Processing

  • NBR will process your e-return and, if everything is in order, will confirm the acceptance of your return.
  • If there are any issues or discrepancies, you might be asked to provide additional documentation or clarifications.

Important Notes:

  • TIN (Taxpayer Identification Number): You must have a valid TIN before filing. If you do not have one, you can obtain it from the NBR office or online.
  • Deadline: Make sure to file your e-return before the due date to avoid penalties.
